APOCRIES - GREEK CARNIVALE
Earlwood Studio - Monday, 23rd February
Lugarno Studio - Tuesday, 24th February
Bexley North Studio - Friday, 27th February
Crows Nest - Saturday, 28th February
Come to class dressed in your favourite fancy dress this week and celebrate 'Apokries'. Apokries in the Greek Orthodox faith is the three week period before Ash Monday when the 40-day lenten fast begins.
Traditionally in Greece, festivities were held in accordance with ancient Greek culture and celebrations were held in honour of Dionysus (Bachus), the god of wine and joy, that used to take place to celebrate the end of Winter. Children almost universally follow the tradition of dressing up for Apokries... so be sure to get creative and have some fun.
